Schlechte Nachrichten für alle Geocacher mit einem Android Smartphone:

Die Entwicklung der besten Geocaching App, c:geo, wurde von ihrem Entwickler Carnero eingestellt.
Schuld daran ist das Auftreten Groundspeaks:

During the c:geo development, I had to keep my eye on GroundSpeak. They didn't like c:geo. Ive read their TOS many times and I saw some parts there with the potential to eventually kill c:geo. But the only thing I'd get from GroundSpeak was "don't use our icons". Until two months ago they've never said c:geo is illegal from their point of view. They just tried to scare c:geo users away from using it, but they've never said to me anything close to "please, stop". I really don't like their attitude – they'd like nothing better than to make every living and breathing thing on Earth pay for their low-quality services and applications. Remember all those outages caused by the upgrades of some invisible text on their web? And it will be even worse now since they've decided to not allow pretty much anything to non-paying users. Yet they are still unable to introduce any useful improvements. It was pretty much the norm back in 1990, but today it's really outdated. Remember Facebook, Twitter, Google services, Flickr and any other service currently popular? For the most part, they bring very reasonable things to users for free and some of them add many cool bonus features if you're willing to pay a few bucks a year. They also have pretty good APIs from the very beginning. GroundSpeak is spreading FUD for free and giving you unstable, ugly looking service for 30 bucks per year and then they're asking more money for their almost four-star application. They still don't have public API. And some rumors I've heard said that their public API will be "version 1", while their own applications will use "version 2". That means GroundSpeak is probably trying to hold all the other apps back. Since they are not able to create a good application, they have to restrict everyone else from doing so. All those things don't sound reasonable to me. In short: I'm pissed off by GroundSpeak's attitude. Also, one small addition: Because of my new job I don't have as much free time as I did before, so to spend it fighting with GroundSpeak is really not that much fun.

Weiter ist zu lesen, dass er nicht nur die Entwicklung sondern auch Geocaching generell an den Nagel hängen wird.

Groundspeak wäre besser damit beraten solche Leute einzustellen anstatt Druck auszuüben, vielleicht bekämen sie so ihre völlig überteuerte und unbrauchbare eigene Android App in den Griff.

Der Quelltext von c:geo ist via Github erhältlich, ich hoffe es finden sich Entwickler die das Projekt weiterführen.

Wenn man sich den Kauf der teuren Garmin Topo Karte sparen will, guckt man in der Regel nach einer Openstreetmap Karte. Die sind frei und mittlerweile auch ganz schön genau. Nur von der Kartendarstellung gefielen mir die alle nicht.

Bis ich die Reit- und Wanderkarte gefunden habe.

Klare Darstellung, Höhenlinien, die Wege sind gut zu erkennen und zu unterscheiden und sogar die Wegzeichen sind eingetragen.

Installation ist kinderleicht, da auf der offiziellen Seite sogar fertige Garminkarten angeboten werden, also einfach downloaden und auf die SDCard werfen! :)

Für mich einfach die perfekte Karte für mein GPSMap 62s!

Ihr wollt bequem per GUI Fastboot nutzen? Ohne das Android SDK zu installieren und das am besten auf Linux, Mac OS X und Windows?

Gibt es nicht? Gibts!

Der Xda Developer "mumilover" hat den Fastboot Commander entwickelt, eine Java Anwendung alle wichtigen Fastboot Befehle schon fest eingebaut hat.

This is a tool written in JAVA for easier flashing of the following partitions: 

Radio, hboot/spl, recovery, system, boot, userdata and splash.

It can do much more, like:

Erase/wipe multiple or single partitions.

Reboot device either to system or fastboot.

Print of device info.

Flash of signed zip files (E.g. fastboot flash zip myzip.zip)

The above(Flash of signed zip) should not to be confused with flashing of custom rom files!

It's only meant for signed HTC roms with complete system layout.

Flash multiple files in one click by using custom folders and tags.

 

It's basically a GUI over most fastboot commands.

It works for windows, linux and mac.

No need for Android SDK, the jar-file has the fastboot executable bundled!

 

It has been in use in the magic(sapphire) + Desire sub-forum for some time now.

So it's well tested and have more then +2000 users.

It works for all devices who has fastboot :0)

 

This should be seen as an extension to s-off.

If you do not know what it is, this tool is not for you.

Ich habe damit schon problemlos einige Radios und Splashscreens auf mein Desire HD geflasht.

Habe gerade dieses Video von Xubor auf Youtube entdeckt. Der baut wie ihr sehen könnt nicht nur abgefahrene Lego Pistolen, sondern verkauft die Anleitungen für 17,50€ auf seiner Seite. Ich würde für so eine Anleitung zwar kein Geld ausgeben, aber das "Werbevideo" rockt auf jeden Fall!

Letztes Jahr habe ich es verpennt, dieses Jahr mache ich mit. Ricarda hat wieder einmal zu ihrer Blogblumenparade aufgerufen.

Anhand meines HTML Graphs sieht man schon, dass es hier minimaler zugeht …

Einen Nutzen habe ich natürlich erst nächstes Jahr wenn ich die Graphen vergleichen kann, trotzdem schön anzusehen.
